Finally Fishing with Kelly
Quantum PTs in the Hands of The Man I have known Kelly for a little more than three years now. I have known of him for more than twice that. If you fish in San Diego, if you know someone who fishes in San Diego, or if you ever read or heard something about fishing San Diego, chances are you have heard the name Kelly Salmans. Ask any tournament Bass Angler about Kelly, and usually a smile appears, then a funny story follows.

From the time of meeting Kelly; being on the Quantum staff, and working with him in the realms of tournament fishing, from his support on my FLW trails, to everything he and I have always been involved in, it never occurred to me until the morning of this trip that he and I had never fished together.
When I explained to Kelly about how Robert, Chuck and I had come across the spoon bite, he tied one on right away and got busy with it. We had a blast of our short trip together, and we talked about big plans for some of our local business owner buddies. (Can't wait until JT gets the new Skeeter shop open)
We only moved a couple of times around San Diego Bay this day. We had one honey hole that gave us more spotted bay bass than we knew what to do with. One thing I have learned about fishing San Diego Bay in the winter; if you find fish, stay with them. Even if they are not giants, they will provide you with the joy of catching. Our counting method got lost in the bay amidst the great company and conversations. We did fish more than we snapped pictures, and only caught a few off target species. All in all, a great day with a fine gentleman. Caught and Released: 50 Spotted Bay Bass (est), 1 Halibut, 8 Jacksmelt, 1 Sand Bass, 2 Mackerel
